Casa Natura
Casa Natura, an organic lifestyle and home furnishings store, began in a small vintage adobe in downtown Santa Fe complete with wide-planked antique pine floors, natural plaster walls and chunky vigas. The idea was to showcase the best examples of well-designed, healthy, organic home furnishings and other environmentally safe products to the public in a beautiful setting that epitomized a health-oriented, sustainable lifestyle.
Well beyond the stereotype of green, Casa Natura sourced products that broke the image that “organic” meant brown or beige. Plant-dyed bedding and hemp/silk textiles in luscious tones filled the store. Casa Natura was about beauty and health first. While the clientele varied, Daryl also worked with chemically sensitive customers, understanding the nuances of chemical sensitivity through her own experiences.
After a year the store moved to a more prime downtown spot near the Santa Fe Plaza. This space didn't have the charm of the original location and so bamboo flooring was installed, and the walls were painted with a rich clay paint from Bioshield. Both locations displayed organic mattresses and an array of bedding, organic upholstered furniture, bamboo and reclaimed teak furnishings, textiles, and flooring samples from carpet to natural linoleum and cork.
Casa Natura was at the forefront of positioning and presenting organic home furnishing to a wider audience that went beyond "green."
